- great blender
Style: Blender + Food Processor Brushed Nickel
Pros: -Glass jar (rare in blenders now it seems) -Easy to use settings, I like the smoothie setting that goes back and forth to get things blended up really nicely. -Lots of power for blending vegetables or ice. - It gets things blended up really nice and smooth and creamy. -Single appliance for both food processing and blending - I like that you can interchange the food processor and blender. Saves space in the kitchen. Cons: -It's pretty loud- louder than the kitchen aid blender I was replacing. -Sometimes the bottom gets stuck on the jar and it gets really hard to get it off, especially if you put certain things in there (I added psyllium husk to a smoothie once and it got in there and expanded and made it really hard to get off). -The base feels/looks a little chinsey (silver plastic) compared to my old durable Kitchen Aid blender. Also because it is set at an angle, if you dribble or drop anything as you're putting it in the jar (i.e. I will sometimes drop protein powder) it will get onto the base and dust the top of the thin buttons and it's kind of hard to get cleaned up well (see photos). - You aren't supposed to use the food processor on the highest blender setting, but I find that it sometimes needs more power to do a good job processing some things (e.g., making nut butter). Probably just requires more patience and longer processing times. -The plastic cover also feels a little chinsey, like the plastic will eventually get brittle and break. We'll see though, maybe not. - Still not really sure what this little plastic thing is sticking off of the bottom (see last photo)??? - The outside/bottom of the food processor container is hard to get clean. Water gets in but you can't access it easily. Overall: Happy with my purchase, it works for what I need it to work for I use it all the time (5 times a weekish). ... show more

- Nice but not familiar in what you would expect
Style: Blender + Food Processor Brushed Nickel
First, power is everything and its got it. Blender container has an odd plastic fin that has to be pushed down to get it to lock in. This is the thing I simply was not expecting. It is fine for cleaning. Food processor, hard to clean but not impossible. Wish it came with directions on how to use what when. Took me looking at a video to figure it out. Dont quite get the smoothie cup. Surely on its way to Goodwill. ... show more

- When it came the plastic knob on top was broken
Style: Blender + Food Processor Brushed Nickel
I did not use this because it was broken when received and I sent it back. I ordered the same machine but without the blade. The price had gone up considerably is the reason for ordering without the blade.

Very powerful. Made a smoothie quickly and ....well, smoothly. Only problem: beware of the blades on the blender ...very sharp. I cut my hand the first time I used it. Also, no instruction manual or owner's manual. Called Oster and got great customer service. Manual sent on email. Not sure how the food processor works because no manual. ... show more

- It's been a love hate relationship. Really.
Style: Blender + Food Processor Brushed Nickel
After reading the product description and reviews, I couldn't wait until the new Oster Blender/Food Processor Arrived. Out of the box I was impressed with it's sturdiness. It was well packaged.....UNTIL I realized there were NO instructions. NONE. There were a few recipes and photos on a well-presented box, but not what you would expect with a device of this nature. I tried to figure out all of the parts only to at first believe that the food processor couldn't house all of it's sharp parts and that the slice/dice blade would have to be stored separately. Additionally there is a small device that is about three inches tall that is necessary to use the slice/dice blade. This crucial piece could be easily lost. AGAIN, NO instructions for usage, assembly, care or storage. ALSO the slice/dice blade is NOT labeled "this side up for slicing/this side up for dicing. You have to just try it out to see what you get. I was going to send it back. I had washed it so, I figured I give it one try and I couldn't believe how fabulously the food processor worked. It is quick and quiet. So, I decided to consider giving it all a chance. Working with the food processor further, I realized that this device is SEVERLY lacking in safety features. Specifically, I mean that you can leave it opened and turn it on or open it before the blades have stopped. YES you read that correctly. It WILL turn on and the blade will spin if the top is off. There is tiny print the same color as the plastic lid that is very hard to read that says "Do not open until the blades stop..." I was extremely surprised that there was no fail-safe and only this almost illegible print to prevent this action. Fast forward a couple of days, I got curious and found the OSTER website. There you can find ALL of the owners manuals, instruction videos, recipes etc. It seems to be a fair presentation. I WISH there had been something in or on the box pointing me to the product guide. You also will have to dig through the website to find the specific product. The blender works beautifully and we are very happy with it. The single serve blending mug is also great. It did leak badly the first time I tried it. I believe it was operator error and the bottom wasn't securely tightened. I suggest trying that out with water first in case you have the same issue. It will be easier to clean. The next time I tried the blender mug it worked like a champ with no leaks at the base. Fast forward until a couple of days ago, I had been storing that little 3 inch knob in the food processor base, continually watching to make sure I got it out if I used the processor. It occurred to me that it might fit into the plunger piece of the processor which is hollowed out. Wallah! It FIT! No more storing the knob in the major compartment area of the processor. If only they had provided basic instructions in the box with the product. I don't ask for much. I would have been thrilled to even find a basic picture presentation showing how it fits together etc. Bottom line, it's a good product. I don't think it's the safest product, but I have enjoyed using it enough to keep it and be carefully mindful of the safety issues. This Oster food processor requires that the user be focused to avoid potential injury. This is NOT a product to use if you have a glass of wine while you cook. If you decide to try it, stay alert and stay safe. ... show more

- Happy with purchase
Style: Blender + Food Processor Brushed Nickel
This Oster Blender/processor works well for my purposes. I like smoothies, and it blends the ice very smooth, almost creamy. It does require extra liquid (I mostly use frozen fruits). I like the reverse action of the blade that it does to help blend. The food processor has been an added bonus. While not as precise in cutting as some I’ve seen, it will slice potatoes to make chips. Grates cheese quickly. I’m not a foodie, or chef, but for my purposes it has worked well. The motor does get loud when the smoothie is too thick. I just turn it off and stir with a spoon to settle the drink back down on the blades. If you don’t add enough liquid you may have to do this a few times. It is not for making sorbets or ice creams (as the Blendtec does). But for the price point, it’s great. ... show more
